Alpha LTE

Description

First, the Alpha LTE is a tracking device only, it does not stim, tone or vibrate.  Once you buy the collar they will also need to purchase a subscription plan for $49.99 a year, which is a real bargain!

This new collar can be used as a stand-alone tracking device, you do not need an Alpha HH, by downloading the Garmin Alpha app. The “run time”, or charge, lasts about 45 hours, basically a couple of days,  on the 2 minute update when it is used as a tracking product with your cell phone.

The new collar can also be used in conjunction with and Alpha 10, Alpha 200 or Alpha 300 handheld as well as a T5/TT15 mini, T5/TT15, T5X/TT15X and T20/TT25.  The new Alpha LTE buyer may need to update the software on his handhelds and collars on WebUpdater or Garmin Express although we have been adding LTE compatibility in updates for as long as a year now preparing for this product.

The charge on the new LTE collar lasts around 70 hours when paired with HH and DD listed above.  REMEMBER, the LTE has to be in an area where there is cell service for it to show you the dogs location.  What is nice is that if you are hunting or traveling in an area with no service and someone picks up your dog and drives into an area where there is service, you can find them. The dogs location will show up on the owner HH or on the Alpha app, even if the dog is hundreds of miles away, as long as there is cell service.

OK, so the biggest question is  “Who is going to buy this, who needs it?”

Our Alpha 10,100, 200 and 300 all work GREAT for most folks and don’t need any other solution…. BUT, some guys with expensive hunting dogs that cover a lot of country to find whatever they are after can get out of range every now and then and the new LTE collar can be a huge security blanket for them. Much of the mid-west has cell service for the entire state and all of these states are big coon hound, beagle, bird dog and retriever enthusiasts.  If you have a lot of inReach business in your area, this collar may not be a solution for customers as the collar needs cell service to show you its location……but, even in some of those areas there are places/pockets around town where there is cell service and this may be a solution even for bear and lion hunters in the mountains on the east and west coasts of the US.

Another advantage with a hunting trip or vacation just having a collar that keeps track of the dog around the hotel at night, airbnb or at a campsite or if something goes “haywire” on the hunt, they will be able to find their dog. These guys know there is nothing worse than being ready to head to draw out or home after and can’t find your dog.
